The community of the monks of Lérins is delighted to welcome you.

16 centuries of monastic life have left their mark on this island. We invite you to discover its beauty and the life that goes on there. The church is open to visitors. You can share times of prayer with the community during the day. You can also enjoy a time of recollection or prayer in this space of silence, and longer if you wish to stay in our guest house.

For day visitors,

vous pouvez rejoindre la communauté à l’église aux heures suivantes pour la messe ou un office (voir ci-dessous en bas de page les horaires)

Who are we?

The community currently living at the Lérins monastery is made up of 21 monks from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Our way of life is community-based, with the day structured by prayer, work, study and hospitality. We are part of a congregation of monasteries, with the Abbey of Lérins as our "mother house": the Cistercian Congregation of the Immaculate Conception (CCIC).

This congregation includes the monasteries of Lérins and Sénanque (Vaucluse), a monastery of the Sisters of N-D de la Paix (Castagniers-Nice), a monastery in Canada (Rougemont-Québec), a monastery in the United States and a monastery in France.
Viet-Nam (Mỹ Ca - Nha Trang), a monastery in Italy (Dominus Tecum - Bagnolo Piemonte).

A new community of sisters is affiliated to our congregation, the Cistercian Abbey of Sainte Marie de Rieunette (Aude).

The kind of life we lead in these relatively unspoilt places steeped in history may come as a surprise. But that should not lead us to believe that these are the homes of a few witnesses to a bygone age, a magical age according to an all too common image. No, we are talking about people who live with the culture of their century and who confront all its aspects with the values they draw from the Gospel of Christ and Christian thought.
